Position Description

Job Summary: The Director of Finance and Operations will advance UP Partnership’s finance, technology, human resource, and operational systems, ensuring sustainable organizational operations to ensure that all young people in Bexar County are ready for the future. They share responsibility for the internal systems needed for all organizational operations and supervise the finance and operations team to ensure that all UP Partnership team members are rooted in UP Partnership values, engaged in the team and our collective work, and have the capability they need to drive impact; that UP Partnership’s leadership team has the information it needs to forecast and monitor budgets, and make informed decisions to adjust accordingly; and that all UP Partnership strategies have the resources they need to achieve impact. This position reports to the Chief Finance and Operations Officer. Specific responsibilities include:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervision and Personnel
  • Directly supervise human resource managers to ensure talent recruitment and ongoing employee engagement and retention.
  • Directly supervise finance/operations and development managers to ensure effective and efficient internal systems that contribute to long-term investment and sustainability.
  • Oversee contracting relationships within the finance and operations unit.
  • Support the Chief Finance and Operations Officer with tracking impact goals, strategy ideation, and special projects.
  • Support the Leadership Team to ensure high-quality finance and impact reporting.
  • Maintain both operational and strategic coordination with fellow Directors to ensure alignment and commitment to UP Partnership’s strategic goals of Healing, Access, and Voice.
Partner Engagement
  • Develop and maintain local, regional, and national finance and operations partnerships.
  • Support future strategic planning through internal, external, and contract partnerships.
  • Transform key financial, human resource, and operations data into compelling data visuals to support informed decision-making
  • Support Leadership Team and the Senior Manager of Finance and Operations to build and maintain contract agreements with contractors.
  • Communicate regularly with UP Partnership staff, contractors, and funders on key updates and reinforce shared impact messaging developed through communications and development teams.
Strategy Advancement and Reporting
  • Support the Chief Finance and Operations Officer to ensure the sustainability of evolving organizational strategies, with an emphasis on healing, access, and voice.
  • Manage relevant contractors and support the Development & Grants Manager with grant management and reporting requirements and the communications department with communications requirements.
  • Prepare and facilitate team meetings to ensure cross-departmental communication and alignment.
  • Guide the development and maintenance of new internal finance and operations systems and processes, including fiscal, development, HR, technology, and operations processes and policies and related training for UP Partnership staff.
Internal Systems and Integration
  • Partner with the Director of Data and Information Management to ensure UP Partnership’s data security posture including data and cybersecurity.
  • Support the design, construction, and implementation of technologies that increase efficiency and effectiveness in internal operations.
  • Build fiscal management capacity across UP Partnership staff.
  • Manage operational budgeting, forecasting, and tracking.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of new internal systems and processes.
Sustainability and Operations
  • Maintain an attitude of complete ownership of team results and outcomes.
  • Manage finance/operations budget, forecasting, and tracking.
  • Strengthen, maintain and support internal systems and processes.
  • Support grant writing and organizational growth planning.
  • Positively contribute to organizational culture and model UP Partnership values.
  • Lead and/or support other UP Partnership initiatives and priorities as needed.

Position Details:
The Director of Finance and Operations is a full-time, permanent, benefits eligible position. Anticipated start date is on or before March 15, 2023. Annual salary range is $78,000-$86,000 depending on experience. All UP Partnership staff are currently working on a hybrid schedule blending in-office and remote work.
